Leave your legacy by making the future a little greener:

Your legacy will support cleaner water, youth education and free access to nature.

Make a difference:

  • Bequest / Gift in Your Will
A bequest is the most popular and simple way to leave a legacy. A bequest can be included in a new will or added to an existing one. Bequests are usually a dollar amount or a percentage of the estate that is transferred to the Nickel District Conservation Foundation after the donor's death. This type of donation reduces estate taxes.
  • Publicly Traded Securities
Securities can be transferred (during your lifetime or in your will) to charity. A tax receipt is then issued for the amount of the fair market value of the shares. When securities are donated to a charity, the capital gains are not subject to tax.
  • Life Insurance
The Nickel District Conservation Foundation can be listed as the beneficiary of your Life Insurance Policy. This allows donors to make a bigger impact than they could during their lifetime. The estate receives a tax receipt for the amount donated and is not this amount is exempt from estate taxes. You can also donate an existing policy (or purchase a new policy) to a charity and name the charity as owner and beneficiary. This method allows for tax savings during the donor's lifetime.
  • RRSPs
Similar to a Life Insurance policy, RRSPs are transferred to the Nickel District Conservation Foundation when the donor’s estate is settled. The donor’s heirs avoid income and estate tax.
