Nickel District Conservation Foundation (NDCF)

Board Member Responsibilities

Mission statement:  Raising funds for programming, special projects, and enhancements to the Lake Laurentian Conservation Area (LLCA). Promote, support, and raise awareness for the LLCA.

 

Vision statement: We imagine an accessible and sustainable Lake Laurentian Conservation Area (LLCA) in which Sudburians and visitors are committed to caring for, learning about, and enjoying our natural world.

 

The NDCF Board is an elected group of individuals. Member responsibilities are:

  • Attend meetings regularly (1 hour, Monthly)

  • Participate in board discussions

  • Vote on board matters

  • Make motions

  • Serve as active advocates and ambassadors and fully engage in identifying and securing the financial resources and partnerships necessary for the NDCF to advance its mission

  • Make a meaningful financial donation

Board Terms are renewed annually for a maximum term of ten years.

​

We currently have multiple vacancies including general members and members with the following skills

Board member with communication skills:

  • Experience creating digital content and managing communication campaigns.

  • Strong writing and analytical skills.

  • Familiarity with the best practices of common social media platforms.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic communications advice to the board and the Director of Advancement.

  • Assist in resolving communications challenges and the management of contentious and sensitive issues.

Board member with marketing skills:

  • Creative and problem-solving skills.

  • Experience with e-mail marketing and multi-channel campaigns.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic marketing advice to the board and the Director of Advancement.

  • Assist in resolving marketing challenges and the management of contentious and sensitive issues.

​

Board member with financial planning and/or personal tax skills:

  • Experience with either retirement, financial planning, integrating tax and financial planning, or estate planning.

  • Extensive knowledge of tax law.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide financial and tax advice to the board and the Director of Advancement.

  • Provide strategy and advice as to how charitable donations can be beneficial to personal, estate and business finances.
